European Election Campaign

Don't forget to vote on Thursday 4th June 2009!
You may have seen us out leafleting -with our Green party flag- in Mickley and various other places. We also popped up on BBCTV's Look North.
We stand very little chance of securing a seat in the North East region, as there are only three seats up for election, and they'll probably go to the grey parties, but it is still important for Greens to vote as we want to beat the BNP and show that we prefer a party that has positive policies for the future rather than an agenda that should have been completely buried in 1945.

Northumbrian Cabbage.

I read in the new edition of the local Green newsletter, Northumbrian Cabbage that I'm writing a blog. However, I haven't written anything on it for a year, but I promise that I'll turn over a new leaf and write up any green things I do; I have a Council meeting tonight, so I'll start with that.

May 1st Unitary Election.

Pam Woolner, my partner, is standing in the Prudhoe West division of the new Northumberland Unitary Authority. The main issue she's standing on is her opposition to the Duke of Northumberland's proposed Hypermarket and associated nasty, 70's style shopping centre with associated multi- story car park.
We Greens value the rather Royston Vasey- ish ideal of local shops for local people and ourselves generally avoid jumped- up Nettos such as Sainsbury's; rather preferring to shop in little places or in big stores which are at least cheap- like Netto.
